It appears that I have another series on my hands. I must say that so far these have allowed me to be a bit more spontaneous in method due to the format etc. The 9 x 12 inch size is something that I can pull from a watercolor sketchbook I have and then work through building the page with the allotted freedom of marker and cut paper. I have even taken this set up on the go, which is where these actually started.
I am still helping to take care of my aging mother, which I have mentioned in my last blog post, so outside of the visits with her I have found less time to work on image-making. Things in my romantic relationship has also been going well. These situations hold an important place in my life, as does my old friend art-making, so one day I decided to select certain materials to take along with me while spending time with my loved ones.
In fact, "The mountain has its moons" was sketched out while spending time with the woman I am seeing while she quietly read.
I found a spark in working this way, I then chose to work from the sketchbook over the next few days, churning out the other two images in this post.
I may have mentioned in the past that listening to music is a big part of my process. Many a title has come from an existing song title, lyric or band name. In this case I pulled the title of the bottom collage from the band of the same name.
For the sake of a richer experience....I am embeding the YouTube audio from the band's self-titled album below.
Perhaps the music will reveal where I was coming from while making the collage wearing that title. Or why these images come out at all.
I could say more, perhaps I will post more when I witness more from my process and get to know myself more through it. As for now, I hope you enjoy these new images, and some of the words attached to them.
Cheers.
